About The Bowyer
Tony Semenuk ...
It was in my childhood that I first began to love the outdoors and wood-working. I spent many hours roaming the woods, breathing fresh air, crunching leaves, and working on little projects in the shop. It was only natural that my childhood hobby would become a profession as an adult. Moving from small carvings to furniture, I found the challenge of shaping wood into artistic forms not only fascinating but satisfying. I now have more than 30 years experience as a wood turner, having enjoyed a high level of success winning several awards in a variety of competitions: "First in Class" New England Carving Wild Life Expo, "Best in Show" Glastonbury Arts Guild 32nd Arts and Crafts Show, and "Best in Show" New England Wood Carving Wild Life Expo. Wood is my life.
Being an outdoorsman, I eventually found archery and immediately was addicted. Staring with the compound bow, I shot my share of arrows and greatly enjoyed tweaking and tuning my bow. The need to challenge myself further enticed me to make the switch to traditional, instinctive archery. Being a wood-worker by trade, bowyering was a natural progression. As a bowyer, my interests started with primitive technology and the art of atlatl and dart. This early form of hunting was one of Man's first mechanized weapon systems. My interests expanded from this early technology to primitive archery and stickbows. Since then I have built several variations of longbows, recurves, take-downs, and stickbows, tweaking my designs to find the perfect performing weapon that is not only reliable and accurate, but aesthetically pleasing as well. I believe it is critical to have a bow that fits each archer and has the right feel as well as the right weight and power to reach your shooting potential. White Wolf Custom Bows came out of this pursuit. As an independent custom bowyer, my focus is to produce the best shooting, best feeling, best fitting bow for avid archers. |
